Now usually I’m against any type of mass produced fashion product whereby a celeb has just scribbled their name on it (although there are a few exceptions to this rule Gwen Stefani, The Olsen Twins, Victoria Beckham). Usually they lack any real type of creativity not to mention style, although this time round with Mr. West it could be a very very different story. It’s no secret that ‘Ye is obsessed with all things fashion – from his lyrics, his appearances at Fashion events and not to mention his own personal style. These factors are what will ignite a genuine sense of excitement about his range and following a successful scarf collaboration with George Condo and M/M Paris (artists who created the covers on his latest album “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy”) a joint trainer collection with Louis Vuitton PLUS an internship at Fendi, we would say Kanye is more than equipped to produce a collection that will not only be excellent in quality, but provide strong silhouettes and evoke timelessness. I also predict strong prints and items that both males and females could wear. This year’s Coachella Music Festival saw him wearing a shirt from one of his favourite designers, Phoebe Philo who is Creative Director at Celine. It was a bold choice that stirred up a fashion frenzy as to whether it was too forward and put his fashion sense up for debate. Personally, I thought it was a hit – it was relaxed, it was luxury and power all at the same time – everything we expect from a creative genius, which is exactly why we expect the absolute best from the line. It’s likely he will unveil the collection in September (when fashion week kicks off), which will showcase collections for Spring Summer 2010. Until then we’ll be kept in suspense as to what the clothes will look like, however you can catch him in action on the festival circuit in the UK where he’ll showcasing what he does best – music and fashion.
