After weeks of rumours it has finally been announced that Brad Pitt will be the new face of Chanel No. 5. This is the first time in history that the design house has chosen a man to represent the fragrance and has left people all over the globe scratching their head.
Reports have also revealed that the newly engaged 48-year-old will be paid a whopping seven figures and ads will be released by the end of this year. Shooting for the ad is set to commence in London this week.
Chanel No. 5 was the first perfume launched by the French fashion house back in 1920. It was traditionally a fragrance worn by women and became a household name when Marilyn Monroe stated that ‘five drops of Chanel No.5′ was all she wore to bed.
Chanel No.5 is not a unisex fragrance and so Brad as the leading model seems an unlikely choice. We decided to root through our archives and pick out some of our favourite and most iconic faces of Chanel No.5.
What do you think of this decision? Publicity stunt or innovative genius for Chanel No 5? Who has been your favourite spokes model for the brand?
