Last Friday saw the final year graduates of University of East London showcase their designs at the infamous Ministry of Sound. Having been invited by fellow designer and friend Annilia Glanville, CS headed down in preparation to be razzled, dazzled and amazed. The event (and other’s similar) are in wake of LFW of course, which is set to kick off next week.
There are also reports that pop princess Rihanna is on the look out for a hot new talented designer to dress her for her 2012 Wireless appearance at Hyde Park, and judging from the talent we witnessed at Ministry, the UEL graduates could definitely be in the running. Rihanna’s hunt will be televised on Sky Living and the show will be presented by Girls Aloud star Nicola Roberts, who was handpicked by the ‘Rude Girl’ singer because of her style and originality.
“I’ve always had a great love of fashion. It’s a constant source of inspiration and is a big reason why I’ve grown into the artist I am today.” says Rihanna. Nicola also added:
“There are talented people, undiscovered because they don’t have the means, or their circumstances are too far away from the fashion world. This show is here to discover those people and give them a shot.”
To take part visit skyliving.com or email applications@twentytwenty.tv. Applications must be received by Sunday 5 February. Filming takes place over eight weeks in the UK, from April 2012
In the meantime, here are a few more of our favourite designs from the UEL fashion show. Enjoy x
