WHEN THE HEART GROWS FONDER

8 August 2014

My Starr and I have been apart for almost 2 weeks now whilst he vacations in Africa. I’m aware that this may not seem like a monumental amount of time for some, in fact, I was quite looking forward to not having to fulfil cooking duties, not having to pick up socks left in the middle of the room, being able to paint my nails at leisure without him heaving from the smell… How delirious was I at the thought of once again being able to get dressed up at my leisure without judgement or agitated huffs and puff every 15 minutes. Yes, this was not his holiday – It was mine!

But alas, to say that I’m struggling is an understatement. Apart from the obvious deprivations such as cuddles and someone to kill the spiders, I honestly have felt incomplete during his time away. Many a cliche spring to mind, but I guess it is true that sometimes it takes absence for someones presence to be truly valued.

“Absence is to love what wind is to fire; it extinguishes the small, it inflames the great.”
Roger de Bussy-Rabutin
